Water Color Post Card

The perfect rainy day or inside activity is watercoloring.
We have been on a couple road trips this summer that had the most incredible scenery that I knew would be perfect subjects for our project.

Items needed:
Water color paper
Water colors
Scissors
Tape
(the kind of tape that you don't want to use when wrapping presents because it doesn't stick to the paper, ya, that kind is perfect for this project)

Tape your paper to a surface. We used our Gather mat, but you can use a clip board or a kitchen counter.

Make sure all of the edges are covered in tape. You don't want the water color to bleed onto the paper.

Find your subject to paint.

Sketch.

And begin to paint!

We have an iPad but the batter is dead 99.9% of the time, so the kids usually use my phone to look up google images.

While her painting was drying, she wiped down her mat.
I drenched a mat with the hose once, see what happened to it.

Remove the tape carefully.

And there you have it! A watercolor postcard!

  1. I don't have kids yet, but when I do I really hope to home school them with the same excitement and creativity you do!
